Terms of service
Last updated October 6, 2026
These terms are an agreement between you and [Company legal name] ("we", "us"), which operates Closing Bell Picks at ClosingBellPicks.com. By creating an account or using the app, you agree to these terms, the privacy policy, and the contest rules.
1. What Closing Bell Picks is
Closing Bell Picks is a free game where friends pick real stocks with virtual money in private leagues and compare results. Contests are for bragging rights only: there are no entry fees, prizes, or payouts, and no real money is invested or won.
2. Not investment advice
The app is for entertainment and education. Nothing in it, including prices, charts, statistics, standings, league chat, and weekly recaps, is investment, financial, legal, or tax advice, or a recommendation to buy, sell, or hold any security. Past results in a game don't predict real-world results. Make your own decisions about real investments and consider a licensed professional.
3. Eligibility and accounts
- You must be at least 18 years old and able to agree to these terms.
- Give accurate information, keep your sign-in secure, and tell us if you think your account was used without permission. You're responsible for activity on your account.
- One account per person. Don't impersonate anyone.
4. Market data
Prices and other market data come from third-party providers, are labeled with their source, and may be delayed (for example, by 15 minutes). They may contain errors or gaps. You may use market data only for your personal use within the app and may not copy, redistribute, or resell it.
5. Your content and conduct
- You keep ownership of what you post (for example, chat messages and your display name). You give us a license to host, display, and share it with your league so the app works.
- Don't post anything illegal, hateful, harassing, sexually explicit, or spam, or anything that infringes someone else's rights. Don't share other people's personal information.
- Don't try to break, overload, or get around the app's security, scrape it, or use bots or multiple accounts to gain an advantage.
- Commissioners can remove messages in their leagues. We may remove content, suspend, or close accounts that break these terms.
6. Weekly recaps written by AI
Weekly recaps may be written with the help of an AI model from your league's results. They're meant to be funny and describe what already happened; they can contain mistakes and are not advice.
7. Messages and notifications
We send account and security emails. Other notifications (email, push) follow your settings, and you can change them any time. We send text messages only for sign-in codes you request; we don't send marketing texts.
8. Changes and ending your account
We may change or stop features. If we change these terms in a meaningful way, we'll let you know in the app or by email before the change takes effect. You can delete your account at any time from Account and security settings. Some records (such as contest results) are kept as described in the privacy policy.
9. Disclaimers
The app is provided "as is" and "as available". To the extent the law allows, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including accuracy of market data and standings, and that the app will be uninterrupted or error-free.
10. Limitation of liability
To the extent the law allows, we aren't liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any investment decisions you make outside the app. Our total liability for any claim about the app is limited to [amount, e.g. $100].
11. Governing law and disputes
These terms are governed by the laws of [State], without regard to conflict-of-law rules. [Dispute resolution terms to be confirmed by counsel.]
